My journey over the last 6 months has really come to life in this blog.. I share so much of what's going on in my life - the good, the bad, the interesting, the real. It's hard to know where to draw a line, what to be transparent about, and what to keep personal. It's a tricky line to dance but at the end of the day, I just go with my gut.
My last rather "groundbreaking" story was "The Low Down", where I didn't know where I wanted to go, what I wanted to be, or what was next in store for me. I had just been confronted with the realization that the path I was on, wasn't for me. I was abruptly thrown off the ride, not knowing what the hell to do next.
I have tried a few different things over the last few months: writing, helping others navigate their own grief or tribulation, but the thing I feel like has really made my heart sing (in a way I didn't expect it to), is cooking for others.
With COVID really affecting how we work, how we live and how we enjoy ourselves, I have continued, with even more fervor, to seek comfort in food and cooking. It only makes sense that I share that passion, love and creativity with the people around me.
As a friend recently titled me "The Modern Martha Stewart 2.0", I feel like that really describes the hopes, dreams and what I hold dear (and no, it is not insider trading) .. It is the love and passion I have for good cooking, good desserts, good surroundings and maybe some good sweets .. Not fancy, simply really really good.
The cherry on top is the sheer joy and glee I get from creating personalized experiences for each family or party I work for.. Whether it be the building of a menu suited to their tastes, the imagination I get to employ when creating their place settings, or the creative juices that get to flow when I design the actual menu (that I then get printed on a lovely thick card stock). I put tender loving care into each step, which is why I think this is all so special.
I like to bring home cooking into other people's homes.. Whether it be a Chorizo Stew that bubbles away in the oven for 3 hours, or it's a dinner party for 8 with special attention to detail, or perhaps it's one huge epic charcuterie board filled with beautiful varieties of cheeses, cured meats and fruit.. I love the challenge of making each piece really special and indulgent.
I am no chef, let me get that straight - I am a passionate cook, looking to offer joy and indulgence through the wonders of a beautifully cooked meal, and in turn happy memories (for what could be considered a rather unhappy year) and a memorable experience to everyone I get the pleasure of working with.
